Tunbridge Wells Airport Taxis to Heathrow & Gatwick

We run airport transfers from Tunbridge Wells every day, so we plan around the roads and villages you will actually travel through, not just the mileage. Heathrow is about 55 miles from Royal Tunbridge Wells and the journey usually takes 60 to 80 minutes. The route takes the A21 north to the M25 at Junction 5 (Sevenoaks), then west towards Heathrow.

When to leave for an early flight

This assumes you reach the terminal two hours before departure in normal conditions. The M25 starts to slow from around 6:30am on the approach to Heathrow, so later flights need a bigger buffer. What affects the A21 and M25 run

• School-run traffic (7:30 to 9am). Pembury and the Tonbridge bypass can add 15 to 25 minutes, so we set your pickup time around the time of day, not just the distance.
• Winter frost. The A21 and the M25 can ice before local roads, so we add buffer to winter early-morning runs. See our A21 and M25 winter guide.
• Overnight M25 works. There are regular overnight closures towards the Heathrow end of the M25, so for late-night runs we check current closures and adjust the route.

Pickups across Tunbridge Wells and the High Weald

Southborough. Just north of Tunbridge Wells on the A26 and close to the A21 on-ramp. We cover the High Street, Prospect Road, the Pennington Road and London Road areas and the estates north of the town centre. Southborough to Heathrow.

Pembury. Directly on the A21, so one of our more straightforward pickups. The Pembury roundabout can back up at school-run times and we route around it on early starts. Langton Green, Bidborough, Frant and Groombridge. We know the access routes into the villages, and we confirm the best pickup point with you when you book so there are no surprises on the day.

Crowborough. In the High Weald, around 60 miles from Heathrow. The A26 into Tunbridge Wells is busy from about 7:30am, so an early flight from Crowborough usually means a 4am to 5am pickup. Crowborough to Heathrow.

Tonbridge (TN9 to TN11). Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells are different towns, about 7 miles apart. Tonbridge sits on the River Medway and has a more direct route to the M25, which makes the journey slightly quicker. Tonbridge to Heathrow.

Sevenoaks (TN13, TN14). The closest of our pickup areas to the M25: the A25 or A21 to Junction 5, then west. Early departures are particularly reliable from here. Sevenoaks to Heathrow.

Heathrow or Gatwick from Tunbridge Wells?

Gatwick is about 30 miles from Tunbridge Wells and the journey takes around 35 to 50 minutes, so fares are lower than Heathrow.
